New hi-line switches at MLS - 28/09/03

A big truck for big switches. On hand to take delivery are (left to right) Roy Motton, Fred Motton,
Keith Motton, Frank Desaulniers and Bill Evans. In front is Arielle, Bill's youngest daughter.

The western switch will be installed directly behind the gang. Pictured here are (left to right)
Frank Desaulniers, Roy Motton, Keith Motton, Jim Leggett and Fred Motton.

A closer look at the eastern switch. Flanged wheels will support the yellow crossmember on the curved rail.
Cedar stringers (2" x 6") will complete the swinging bridge. A slip joint and flexible aluminum rail à la WLS
switches will be held in place by rollers on movable ties. A locking pin à la NJLS will secure the switch position.
The design of these switches are truly evolutionary from those of MLS past, WLS, PVLS and NJLS.

Here's a look at another ongoing project, the MLS enginehouses.
